Autumn is the Best Time to Plant Bulbs
09 Mar 21
If you’re stuck inside, staring out at your garden, it might be the perfect time for some inspiration.
Planting bulbs is one of the simplest way to add colour to your garden. So if you love the idea of brilliant splashes of your favourite colours brightening up your front garden, your backyard or your courtyard, jump online or get down to your local garden centre and pick out your favourite bulbs this week.
Autumn is the best time to plant bulbs, as the soil is still warm enough to get them well established before the cold winter sets in. Then, when spring is ready to spring, your bulbs will too.
Daffodils and tulips are the types of bulbs that might come to mind immediately, but there are so many different varieties to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice. And there are lots of ways to plant them too. You could choose one variety and plant out a whole garden bed, you could scatter them throughout the garden, or plant the bulbs in pots.
Create a rainbow of colour in your garden
You could choose a theme and plant bulbs in one or two colours, or if bulbs are new to you, why not buy a value pack of mixed bulbs. They’ll not only create a fabulous rainbow of spring colour, different bulbs will flower at different times and keep your garden full of colour for longer. And they’ll put a smile on your face every time you walk through your garden or even look out the window.
Maybe you’re experimenting with bulbs for the first time and would like some good advice about which bulbs and where in your garden. Or perhaps you know exactly which bulbs you want and where, and you’d like some handy help in the garden to get them planted. Either way, contact your local V.I.P. lawnie, request a quote online, or give us a call on 13 26 13. We’re still here, ready to help you with bulbs or anything else your garden needs this autumn.
