Ruby has spend most of her life doing hard work quietly, without much fuss.
From the age of 16, she worked on a piggery farm. Stock person, laundry cover, cleaner when needed. For years, that was her life. Then the mortgage started pressing and she began looking for a way to ease the weight.
“I’ve been struggling to pay my mortgage,” she says. “I was looking for side hustle that could help with my expenses.”

She knows every tenant by name. The security team messages her before she arrives to let her know the wet floor signs are already out. One client leaves sticky notes and chocolates to say thank you. At Christmas, there are always two! One for Ruby, one for her daughter Abby, who helps run the business alongside her.
“Every time I open the communication book, it makes me feel happy that they appreciate our work,” Ruby says.
That appreciation goes both ways. The owner of Murray Bridge Green has said Ruby is the best cleaner not just in the building, but in all of Australia. It’s the kind of thing that stays with you.
The business has changed Ruby’s life in ways that go far beyond the cleaning schedule.
She quit her full time job at the farm.
She bought a new car.
She’s supporting her family back in the Philippines and built her parents a house there.
“Before, when I went back to the Philippines, we just stayed home because I wasn’t financially stable,” she says. “Now we can go somewhere and enjoy.”
Her daughter, Abby handles the invoices and the technology side of things, quietly keeping the business running behind the scenes. Together they’ve built something neither could have done alone.
Ruby’s advice to anyone thinking about joining V.I.P. is the most Ruby thing you’ll ever hear.
“Don’t think too hard. Just join.”
Her friends have noticed the difference. They tell her she looks healthier, happier and more joyful than she has in years. She agrees.
“I’m very happy,” she says. “Thank you.”
